hey, i’m grace

I’m a Los Angeles-based freelance writer. I write about pop culture, gay stuff, food and drink, health/wellness, and lots of other things. I also teach creative nonfiction writing at UCLA Extension.

My first book, THE 2000s MADE ME GAY, came out on St. Martin’s Press in June 2021. It’s a humor-driven essay collection that interweaves personal anecdotes about growing up as a closeted Midwestern Catholic with reflections on 2000s pop culture. Subjects include: how Taylor Swift’s Fearless made me a U-Hauler; Seth Cohen as my personal lesbian role model; MTV’s The Challenge as queer community, and much more. You can order it here.

My work has been all over the internet, including on The Onion, Reductress, Outside, Chicago magazine, and more places. I’d probably love to talk to you, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
